The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024 FAQs

This Giving Tuesday, we’re taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge where you will have the opportunity to have your donations doubled at no extra cost to fund a life-saving vaccination programme.

We’ve set a target to raise £7,500 in one week, and all donations you make during this time will be doubled to help these animals. With your generous support, we are aiming to vaccinate 2,500 dogs and 1,428 cats on the streets of Sri Lanka.

What is The Big Give Christmas Challenge?

The Big Give Christmas Challenge launches on Giving Tuesday each year – a day that encourages people to do good and has grown into a global movement. It helps many charities, including Dogstar Foundation, double the donations made by supporters during the week.

This year, we are aiming to raise £7,500 to help vaccinate 2,500 dogs and 1,428 cats. If/when the target is reached, your donation will no longer be doubled, but will still make a difference and protect dogs and cats from deadly but preventable diseases.

How can I donate?

To have your donation doubled, you will need to donate between the 3rd and 10th of December on our dedicated Big Give Christmas Challenge webpage. Donations made between these dates and on the Big Give Christmas Challenge website will then be doubled until we reach our target.

Will my donation make a difference to the dogs and cats?

Yes! It only costs £3 to vaccinate a street dog against distemper and £7 to protect a street cat from catching cat flu. Both of these diseases are highly contagious and can be deadly, but thankfully, they are 100% preventable through vaccination.

When is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?

The Big Give Christmas Challenge runs from midday on Tuesday 3rd of December to midday on Tuesday 10th of December. All donations MUST be made on the Big Give Christmas Challenge website in order to be doubled. If/when our target is reached, donations will no longer be doubled, but will still go towards the care of Sri Lanka’s street dogs and cats.
