EAT: our feeding programme

How Dogstars like you are transforming animal welfare in Sri Lanka one meal at a time.

Constantly on the hunt for their next meal, the life of a Sri Lankan street dog is not always easy.

Before the pandemic, these animals relied on the food that was offered by restaurants and food markets, as well as the kindness of tourists and locals alike.

But when the first COVID-19 lockdowns were announced, everything changed. The once bustling streets became deserted, leaving hundreds of street animals on the brink of starvation.

We had to act fast to prevent disaster.

Meals on Three Wheels

With the support of our amazing Team Dogstar family, we began an emergency feeding programme. Every day since March 2020, the Meals on Three Wheels tuk-tuk has delivered hundreds of meals to Sri Lanka's hungry street dogs and cats.

Eat, Spay, Love

It starts with a meal, but it doesn't end there. Through the ripple your love creates, hundreds of animals are also sterilised, treated for parasites and given life-saving vaccinations.

We call it the Eat, Spay, Love Meal Deal!

Your support is needed now more than ever.

In April 2022, Sri Lanka’s government and economy faced a severe collapse. Inflation skyrocketed, medicine was in short supply and fuel completely ran out, leading to a series of mass protests and civil unrest against the government.

Similarly to the UK, living costs have soared here in Sri Lanka. Loving pet owners are facing the horrific dilemma of feeding themselves and their families or feeding their animals. And as a result, more dogs and cats are finding themselves out on the streets looking for their next meal.
